It’s enlightening to think about what you pay for at a restaurant. When you order a hamburger at a restaurant, what are you really paying for? Sure, you’re paying for meat, cheese, a bun and the other fixings, but you’re also paying for a server, a chef, a hostess, and the rent!
Now, you can ask yourself a few things. If you want delicious food, do you need to go somewhere that is up-charging you to pay high rent? Probably not. There’s a reason why restaurants in touristy areas have very average food. Revenue pays for the expensive property that is located close to customers, but it doesn’t pay for a nice atmosphere and seasoned chef.
Every restaurant is going to have some combination of all those costs at play. Now that you know, you can ask yourself what you’re paying for and make sure it matches up with your values. The power to choose is in your hands.
