While I could list a bunch of options here, there really is only one obstacle: Fear.
Fear is what holds us back. Fear is what pushes us to open Facebook instead of working on our project. Fear is what tells us that we should spend more time editing, tweaking and adjusting the design before we share it with anyone.
Fear is what keeps our ideas stuck in the notes app and not out in the real world.
I know because it’s happening to me right now. I’m working on a simple little app idea called New England Ski Options. The goal is to make one place where you can quickly view ski reports and trail maps from across the area. Here it is: https://neski.glideapp.io/
The format is still wrong. The logos aren’t sized properly. There is data missing from the smaller resorts. I’m not sure how to show all the locations on the map. But in reality, I’m scared. Scared to spend more time on the project knowing I may never push it out to the public. But today, I’m not going to let that stop me.
Here’s to a New Year and to confronting the fear. To putting in the work and shipping ideas. To getting feedback and trying again to make it better.
Fear is what stops us from launching our ideas, but acknowledging it is the first step in overcoming it.
