The best artists only do work that excites them. If a project doesn’t sound challenging, meaningful and worthwhile, they pass it up. Sounds like a luxury, right? What you don’t see is the years of dedication to a craft that lead to this point. You don’t see countless projects where they over-delivered and soared above expectations. That is the hard work that has lead them to this point.
Rich Roat and his team at House Industries are these artists. They started out making fonts by drawing inspiration from nooks and crannies everywhere. They delivered Neutraface and countless other beautiful products. Soon they began expanding their portfolio to encompass more than just type. Never forgetting their roots in stunning design, they worked with wood for Hermes, designed the Jimmy Kimmel Live sign, started a furniture line and built a clothing brand.
What’s the common theme that ties together all of these projects? They were excited by them. They didn’t say “yes” unless it was challenging, meaningful and worthwhile. Keep delivering an amazing product and refining your craft so that one day you will be able to choose your projects like Rich and his world-class team.
