Many people (including SNL) poke fun at the idea of going to a show and watching a DJ perform.
What is the point of a DJ flying across the Atlantic to come on stage and press a button?
As someone who enjoys going to said shows, I think these criticisms are fair. While some would argue that the solution is more live-mixing by the performer, or better lights and visuals, I might double down on the other side of the argument.
Yes, it’s pointless for this person to be here in person when they could just DJ remotely. The fun part is hearing music that you like and being surrounded by people who also enjoy the music.
So why not host a remote concert? Make it a little cheaper, but not too cheap. Still do a little live-mixing here and there, but keep it pretty true to the music the DJ plays. Host it at exciting venues across the country and have a party.
Play them good music from an artist they know and maybe they will go to concerts once a month rather than once per year.
