I’ve heard many times that email performs better than social media, but I was blown away by these stats from mailmunch.co:
if you have 2,000 email subscribers, 2,000 Facebook fans and 2,000 followers on Twitter – this is what you will get:
435 people will open your email
120 Facebook fans will see your message
40 Twitter followers will see your message
10 times as many people will open your email versus see your message on twitter. Think of all the people that see every email that comes in their inbox and there are probably closer to 1000 people that see your message.
This doesn’t even mention people’s tendency to buy things they see in email rather than social media, which I’ve also read in a few places. Needless to say, email is a powerful tool. It’s not dead, yet.
