I heard a fascinating take from Eugene Wei the other day. He said that “every problem in the world could be fixed by faster feedback loops.”
The first example he gave was, “if I could jog today and lose 3 pounds, I would jog every day!”
Similarly, one challenge with climate change is that the feedback loops are long and uncertain. Many environmental problems face a similar struggle. If you left trash on the beach and a turtle washed up on shore 5 minutes later that was killed by plastic, you might rethink your actions. But that doesn’t happen and our habits are often never tied to their consequences.
There are countless feedback loops that could be short-circuited to improve outcomes. Rather than focus on the macro, what feedback loops in your life could be sped up?
