We know connection is valuable. We know people with strong social bonds show all kinds of positive effects like living longer and having a greater sense of purpose.
But what is the true value of connection? As in, what should we be willing to sacrifice for a marginal unit of connection?
Is it worth getting an hour less of sleep to have a good conversation? Is it worth not exercising for the day to get drinks with an old friend? Is it worth spending an extra $25 for an uber home if you missed the metro because you were having fun?
Ideally, you wouldn’t have to make these sacrifices. You could sleep and see friends, Exercise in the morning and get drinks at night. Take the metro with a friend, etc…
But in reality, we face tradeoffs every day. What value do you place on connection?
