You never know when a breakthrough might happen. Recently, someone gave a student a piece of advice and a lightbulb went off for them.
I thought the lightbulb-ness of the moment came from the insight offered by the advisor. But after more consideration, another facilitator and I realized we’d given the same advice several times before and it had not led to any lightbulb moments.
Maybe it was the right advice at the right time. Maybe it was the fact that he heard the same thing four times. You never know when the breakthrough will occur. Persistence, adaptability and consistency are key. Say the same thing, in new ways, multiple times.
