During the spring of 2019, eight students prototyped solutions to improve access to resources in their community. With the help of Jackie Stamos and Ambriana Wade at Sussex Central High School, the students addressed problems areas like transportation, ELL classes, housing, healthcare and legal knowledge.
Utilizing Dual School and Strive’s “Culture of Problem Solving” curriculum these students were activated as leaders and designers of a new future.
We’ve documented the project in this video which I hope you enjoy!
This project has been one of the most exciting developments for Dual School in 2019 as we finally developed a training and curriculum that can help facilitators take young people through a design process. The Latino Youth Fellowship was the first project of its kind, but hopefully there will be many more in the future!
Scale is tricky, but something about this feels right.
