There are compelling reasons to believe that coordination is one of the biggest challenges (and opportunities) facing any society.
Whether it’s medical records, social services, job opportunities or local events, it’s not easy for organizations to communicate with each other. We’re left with silos of information, lack of collaboration and a fragmented ecosystem. All this leads to inefficiency and higher costs for all. And most important, a lacking end product.
Although advertising companies can build an entire profile of you without your knowledge or consent, we still have to fill out dozens of papers whenever we apply to a new job or go to a new doctor.
How could we turn the solutions that tech companies have created to track us into tools for efficiency? Rather than alerting us when we need to refill our dish soap, could they help us find positive programs for youth to participate in? Could you help get us to that community event? Could they communicate better with our healthcare providers?
As boring as it sounds, coordination might be the next big frontier.
