The Avicii Tribute Concert was live streamed from Stockholm just a month ago.
It’s a brilliant outpouring of love and support for a musician who the world lost much too soon. But I also feel like this could have been 10x bigger, easily.
The proceeds from the event went to support mental health awareness and the description says it was broadcoast to live to 50,000+ fans from around the world.
There are millions of Avicii fans, and with the right framing, I bet a large percentage of them would have been willing to host an event where they streamed the show. From local theaters, to big clubs to houseparties, value could have been created in dozens of other arenas.
I hope the foundation hosts other events like this in the future and really uses music as the entry point for a broader discussion about mental health.
