I once heard “If it’s not on your calendar, it’s just anxiety.”
I couldn’t agree more. The times when I feel the most stressed and overwhelmed are when unfinished business keeps popping up in my head. Maybe I’m sitting in class or at a meeting and everything I forgot to do yesterday is reappearing in my mind.
All I can think about are the multitude of emails, tasks and assignments that I’ve totally forgotten about. But the stress doesn’t end there.
I hadn’t planned to do any of these things today! I don’t know where they can even fit in my calendar.
The moment when it all feels better is when I write down when I will do each thing. Even if it will only take 5 minutes to respond to an email, you need to schedule that time.
Scheduling out the tasks reduces your decision load. Now you can just go down the list and check off items.
No more worrying about what you forgot and when you’re going to get it done.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, schedule it all out. You can do it.
