Perfectionism is the enemy of creativity. It’s a way of procrastinating while looking productive. Perfectionism delays the hard work of making decisions. You simply spend time polishing and making everything 1% better.
But why do we become perfectionists in the first place?
Fear.
We’re scared that our work isn’t good enough. We’re scared of being done because done is so permanent. Done means that it’s ready for criticism and there’s nothing scarier than that.
Acknowledge your imperfections. Your time is too valuable to be spent polishing everything you turn in. You have big things to accomplish and being perfect is certainly not one of them.
Being you is what matters.
