I heard a great quote the other day about how we should be preparing youth to “become part of the change rather than a consequence of it.”
That sentiment is what we need. In a time when people are deciding that we need to stop change, slow it’s progress and regress. And in a time when too many people still haven’t realized that education needs to prepare kids to lead change, rather than wait for it to happen to them. We need more people thinking this way.
To be clear, “part of the change” doesn’t mean a herd-mentality view of change. It doesn’t mean mindlessly participating in whatever change happens.
It means questioning authority, participating intentionally and designing with humans at the center. Becoming part of change takes practice, and it’s time we start helping more people get their reps in.
