The United Nations have pushed us forward by creating the Sustainable Development Goals. We have successfully open sourced some of the problems that exist in the world. The question is, how do we open source the solutions?
How do we address the fact that 1,200 young people are all trying to improve mental health at their schools, but they go to 1,200 different schools and have no way of finding out about each other?
In a code-based open source community, there are ways to add your contributions to a global body of work. But what about in a person to person based problem?
What does it mean to contribute? How are we tracking best-practices? How are people getting the help and coaching they need?
It strikes me that if we can do a better job of open sourcing the solutions, we’ll all be in better shape to really solve the problems.
