I’m not sure if this happens to other people, but whenever I’m at the dentist, my hygienist says this every 30 seconds.
Eventually I realize that my mouth is slowly shutting back to a comfortable position. While it’s comfortable being closed, the hygienist can’t work on a closed mouth.
This is what’s happening in our lives all the time except very few of us have people there to tell us to “open wider.”
We start strong, make great connections and have good intentions. Then, we slowly close down. We lose our momentum and don’t even realize it. Eventually, we’re back to “normal.” The worst kind of normal. Apathetic, lacking energy and without any drive.
It’s time to open a little wider. Not because it’s comfortable, but because it’s better. For those of you who needed a reminder, let this be it.
