Accomplishing a goal is rewarding in the same way burning a book is a good way to generate heat. It works briefly, but in the end, you’ve wasted something valuable. When you tirelessly pursue a goal, you end up wasting time.
No matter how wisely you used your time and how quickly you accomplished your goal, you wasted time if you didn’t enjoy the process. An accomplished goal is a fleeting joy Maybe a day or two long. The process is 99% of the work. If you can’t enjoy the process, you’ve wasted all of that time pursuing a short high.
Until you realize the process is the reward, nothing you seek will make you happy.
