Do you need to be inspired to make great art?
I don’t think so. What you need is more difficult to obtain that inspiration or motivation. You need discipline and honesty. The best art is that which is authentic and truthful.
Motivation might push you do create one piece, but discipline will push you to create an amazing body of work. Art is a series of small steps, not one huge leap. The boom and bust cycle of motivation is unreliable.
The hardest thing about art is to get out of the way of your own truth. Your perspective is valuable, but it’s scary to share it.
Do us all a favor and don’t wait until you’re inspired to share your truth. Be disciplined and make a habit out of sharing your view. We appreciate it.
