My friend Craig of Creategoodmornings.com got a chance to ask a question to Tim Ferriss at a live event. He wanted to know about what lessons he’s learned about morning routines of the hundreds of top performers he’s interviewed.
Tim’s answer: The most important part wasn’t waking up at 5 am or working out or drinking green juice. The most important part, he found, was that they don’t make decisions in the moment. Top performers decide what they’ll eat for breakfast the night before. They don’t decide IF they’re gonna write or draw or exercise. They’ve already predetermined what will happen. Now they can just sit down and do it.
Same goes for your work. You don’t have to decide what you will make. Know that when you wake up, brush your teeth and eat your oatmeal, you’re going to sit down and write. It doesn’t matter if that time comes and you have nothing to say. You sit down and start working. Woody Allen said, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.” Top performers show up every day and do that work.
