Sometimes just knowing something exists is uplifting enough. Even if it’s located across the country, or in another part of the world, knowing someone thought of the problem and made a solution is empowering.
After working with over 150 students in Delaware to solve social issues, my Mom told me about a showcase she attended at a high school in New Hampshire. She told me about the projects she found most fascinating and for every single one, there was a match in Delaware.
These were high school students who will never meet each other, but both had a passion for LGBTQ inclusion, or implicit bias, or STEM education.
I can only imagine how powerful it would be if every high school student thinking about an issue knew just how many others were working on the same thing.
Just knowing that someone else is out there and you are not alone is one of the most human feelings there is.
