These are some of the questions I use to help guide first time entrepreneurs and other people who have ideas. I encourage you to use them, ask yourself them and keep them in mind when talking with others.
What problem are you solving?
Why hasn’t someone else solved it already?
What makes you the right person to solve this problem?
How do you know it’s a problem?
Who could you talk to to learn more about this problem?
How could you prove that it’s a problem?
How could you objectively verify this problem?
What are people currently doing to solve this problem?
How could conversations and relationships with problem owners inform the cheapest/fastest way to test your solution?
What solutions are you uniquely qualified to deliver?
Using your current skills, how can you deliver version 1 of the solution?
The moral of the story is you’re going to have to get out of the building and talk to problem owners (potential customers). I know that it’s awkward, but anyone can sit in their room and think of ideas. Not many people are willing to put themselves out there to listen to a stranger’s problems. If you can do that, you’re ahead of the game. Go for it.
