Some people choose almond butter because it’s healthier. Some people like the taste better. Other people, like myself, eat almond butter because I have no other choice.
I’ve always been allergic to peanuts and several other nuts. I’m constantly reading labels, asking servers for ingredients and refusing random desserts.
The other day I went to buy an almond butter at Trader Joe’s. When I read the ingredients, there were cashews in it!! Deceiving.
On the other hand, I feel good about buying Barney Butter because front and center on their jar says “made in a peanut free facility.”
That’s comforting to hear. Every other product says “may contain traces of peanuts.” Barney Butter says, “nope, definitely no peanuts in here. There aren’t even any peanuts in our factory.”
That shows Barney Butter knows their customer. In the eyes of the person with a peanut allergy, those few words inspire trust. Every time I read it, I feel comforted by the fact that they understand my concerns.
For me, it’s a good snack. For you all, it’s a neat little lesson in knowing your user.
