Handing over control to young people can be terrifying.
Most adults aren’t comfortable with it. The teen agenda is oftentimes different from the adult agenda. At first glance it sounds unimportant, challenging, and not worth listening to. But when you let them try it, magic happens.
When young people really have a voice, you have to drop your ego. As an adult, you may “know best” what to do in a situation. But your adultsplaining doesn’t facilitate learning. Teen action and reflection does.
Expect failure and embrace it as learning knowing that soon you will see success beyond your wildest imagination.
