Is it better to get work experience that is outdated or to not get work experience at all?
When we think about giving young people opportunities, are we doing them a service to put them in environments that are low paying and full of passionless people?
Is it good enough that they are getting paid, and learning basic skills like showing up on time and being engaged? Or is it counterproductive and reinforcing bad habits?
The future of work looks radically different than what we have right now. Still, it is only in small spots and it’s hard to see.
I think bad work experience can be a great teacher. But we have to be careful with framing what is, and is not going to fly in the future of work.
