Do you remember a day your creativity died? When was it all beaten out of you? Maybe when you did wacky experiments at home, or you tried coloring outside the lines in art.
One of those days, someone probably said that you were doing it wrong. They wanted to contain you. To make sure you fit the mold. They wanted to do their best to ensure you didn’t stand out.
Unfortunately, over the course of our life, well-meaning people slowly kill our creativity. They want you to follow the rules to get a safe job and have a normal life. They don’t know any better. They don’t realize what they’re advice is doing.
You aren’t average or normal. Why would you ever want to be?
The challenge now is to get our creativity back. We need to step outside our comfort zones. We need to start taking risks by trying things that might not work.
Once we realize how fragile our creativity can be, we can work on making sure we know it’s there so others can no longer ruin it. Good luck out there. Don’t let anyone take away your creative voice.
