Can an insider change the industry? Or does it have to be someone coming in with fresh eyes?
I think the answer to both questions can be “yes.” I don’t think lots of insider knowledge necessarily prohibits you from innovating. It’s more that the kind of person who would passively accumulate institutional knowledge for years probably isn’t the same person who would want to shake things up. Additionally, fresh eyes can help you think differently, but our eyes can be refreshed if we’re able to truly see the world.
The answer is less about how much experience you have or lack, and more about how willing you are to see anew.
