Until the student feels empowered we’re just beating around the bush. What’s the point if they know the content if they don’t think they can do anything with it?
Drawing a parallel, entrepreneurship is a gradual process where eventually you ask someone to pay money for what you’ve built. The great part about prototyping, interviewing customers and iterating is that you can accelerate that moment when someone says “yes” to your offer. But how do we emulate that process in education? How do we speed up the point where students feel empowered?
Instead of hoping it happens throughout a one-size-fits-all approach, let’s spend some more time thinking deliberately about how to make empowering moments happen. Until we can do that, the rest might not matter.
